Bugs. They’re everywhere. Whether you’re building a new WordPress plugin/theme/feature, or just making changes to an existing one, you’re introducing the potential for new bugs. Your update may seem minor, but what if it causes a regression elsewhere in the system? What if it works in Chrome, but breaks completely in Firefox or IE? How do you find those bugs? And when you do find them, how do you report and manage them?
This talk will cover these two related topics:
1) Bug Discovery – We’ll go over how to get started with automated regression checking, and how to know when that is and isn’t appropriate. Sometimes manual/exploratory testing is the way to go.
2) Bug Triage and Management – We’ll cover how to investigate a bug and turn it into a solid bug report the development team can use to quickly and efficiently replicate and resolve.
